What is an IPP3000 or IPP4000 ? Both are Integrated Circuits (208-pin PLCC package, Part Number EPF10K10QC208-4) from Altera Corporation, Altera Web Page.
Can an IPP3000R be used by itself ? No, an IPP3000R must be used with an IPP3000.
Can an IPP4000R be used by itself ? No, an IPP4000R must be used with an IPP4000.
What can an IPP3000R with IPP3000 do ? They can be used by OEM for security systems, intrusion detection/object recognition, motion detection, perimeter security, tele-conferencing and computer based tracking systems.
What can an IPP4000R with IPP4000 do ? They can be used by OEM for machine vision, robot control, image processing, bar code reader, image recognition.
Can an IPP4000 or IPP3000 be used to adjust for lighting variations? Download the applications write up in our data sheets page. Click for Data Sheet Page.
What are the advantages over current industry methods ? These IC's process images in real-time utilizing hardware. Today, most systems rely on moving large amounts of data to a central processing computer for anaylsis. This method takes longer and is more costly.
What does an IPP3000R or IPP4000R cost ? Contact VPI. Feedback Form
What does an IPP3000 or IPP4000 cost ? About $20.00 each in quantities of 100.
What is Threshold Control ? This controls the sensitivity between pixel samples before an edge is detected.
What is Tolerance Control ? This controls the amount of cells containing motion before an alarm is raised.
What is a cell ? An image is divided up into cells. The size of each cell is 4 x 4 pixels. When a edge is detected in a cell, the cell is encoded defining the location of cell intersection. Each cell has a unique code from 0 to 255.
How large an image can the IPP4000 encode ? A single IPP4000 can encode a 1024 x 1024 pixel image. Larger images can be processed by chaining the IPP4000 together.
What is Masking ? A Mask can tell the IPP3000 to ignore motion in that cell. This can be used when certain areas of an image is allowed to have motion. An example of this might be leaves, trees or flags blowing in the wind. These areas could be Masked-Off to prevent false alarms.
